We Are SterlingBackcheck: A New Name for a New Era

Today, we are excited to unveil our new brand name, SterlingBackcheck. Over the past seven years, Sterling Infosystems has experienced unprecedented growth and along the way, we have welcomed 7 additional companies into the Sterling family, including the 2012 acquisition of BackCheck, Canada’s leading background screening company.

All this rapid change has forced us to reflect on who we are and what we stand for as a company. One truth about SterlingBackcheck is that we are never satisfied with status quo. I’m really proud to lead such a passionate and ambitious team of 2,500 people around the world. We constantly challenge ourselves to move beyond the status quo to find new ways to innovate products and processes. Our goal is to always serve our increasingly global clientele more efficiently.

Another truth is that we have never lost sight of what makes SterlingBackcheck a special place to work. Every day, we strive to live up to our core brand values:

  • We believe in doing the right thing every day — for our employees and our customers.
  • We believe the little details matter and are constantly evaluating our own performance.
  • We have a passion to innovate new products to make our customers’ lives easier and to deliver the highest standards of compliance. 

Lastly, we see opportunity everywhere. The global market for background screening is expected to grow rapidly in coming years as people increasingly pursue international employment and education opportunities and as multinational companies rapidly expand into new markets. We estimate that the demand for background screening services will be $3.2 US billion in 2015.

In fact, it’s the growing demand for global background screening services that guided our decision to rename the brand to SterlingBackcheck. By combining Sterling and BackCheck as our new company name, we have united a strong US brand with the leading Canadian and UK brand. We believe that our new name is a signal to our clients and their human resource teams that SterlingBackcheck is the trusted provider of quality background checks around the world – 196 countries to be exact.

A new name is just the beginning of this next chapter in our company’s history. We have many exciting product innovations currently in development for 2014.
